Click4Translation Help
Got questions? We hope the information presented here will answer them. Please contact us if your question is not answered.
Do I have to pay a subscription to use Click4Translation?
No – unlike some of our competitors, we don’t charge you for using our online quoting facility.
In fact, you can even get a discount depending on the size of your project.

Are the translations done by a machine?
No – we only use experienced human translators who not only have translation qualifications,
but also significant experience working in their specialist subject. We also include proofreading as standard for extra peace of mind.

How much does a translation cost?
Click4Translation is designed to provide an automatic quote for most types of documents and files.
The price is calculated based on the language(s) involved, the amount of text, and the subject (technical/non-technical),
so varies from one document to the next.
Top
How long will it take to complete the translation?
That will depend on what your document is, the language(s) involved and whether other services such as typesetting are required.
A typical document is processed within a week.
If you have any concerns about an urgent piece of work, please contact us.
Top
What document types do you accept?
We support a large number of document formats which are listed below. We also have the capability to recognise text in image files.
Where a document is not supported, it will still be accepted and we will quote you manually. If there is a document format you would
like to see support for, please contact us.
If you have a number of formats to choose from, please send us HTML.

Microsoft Office Files
We are able to read most files created by the Microsoft Office suite or documents saved in those
formats by other applications. We read text and handwritten ink from these documents, however
images are not scanned. If any of your text is embedded in images, please upload a separate
image file for us to scan.
If you want to translate a Publisher document or an InfoPath form, please save your document as one of
the other formats we support such as HTML. OpenDocument (ODF) support is planned, but for now if you are
using another productivity suite, such as OpenOffice, please save your files in Microsoft Office formats
before submitting them to us for translation. N.B. Smart-art or embedded imagery is not extracted from Office documents.
- Word Documents and Templates (.docx, .docm, .dotx, .dotm, .doc, .dot)
- Excel Workbooks and Templates (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm, .xlsb, .xls, .xlt)
- Powerpoint Presentations and Slides (.pot, .potx, .pps, .ppt, .pwz, .pptx, .pptm, .potm, .ppsx, .ppsm, .sldx, .sldm)
- OneNote Sections and Notebooks (.one, .onepkg)
- Outlook Messages and Calendars (.msg, .ics)
- Document Imaging File, e.g. electronic faxes (.mdi)

Image Formats
If you have a reasonably good quality scan, we can handle column-style layouts and
slight rotation to produce an accurate quote. To get the most accurate quotation,
upload a high resolution scan. Photographs may sometimes be recognised, but we cannot
deskew text rotated in 3D so the photo should be face-on.
We also cannot recognise handwriting,
please contact us for a manual quote if you have a handwritten document.
Since image formats are read-only we will provide the translation as text without the original
formatting. Please upload a word processor or text document to retain the formatting.
- Tagged Images (.tif .tiff)
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
- Compuserve GIF (.gif)
- Portable Network Graphic (.png)
- Windows or OS/2 bitmap (.bmp)

Text Formats
We support text written in all standard encodings and can detect the encoding when you send
us the document.
When sending us XML documents, we will have no way of automatically knowing which part of your document
is linguistic text, so only text nodes will be translated. If you have special instructions for your
XML document please contact us.
- Rich Text (.rtf, .wri)
- Plain Text (.txt)
- HTML (.htm .html, .xhtml, .mht, .mhtml)
- XML (.xml, .xsd, .xsl, .xslt)

Electronic Paper Formats
Again, we do not read images from these files. We hope to support this at a later date. Some electronic paper files
are created by scanning a document and then embedding the images, or by directly saving images to the file. If you have
a document like this, please send us the images instead in one of the formats above so we can recognise the text.
Since electronic paper formats are read-only we will provide the translation as text without the original formatting.
Please upload a word processor or text document to retain the formatting.
- Adobe Acrobat (.pdf, .pdfxml, .fdf, .xdp, .xfdf)
- XML Paper Specification (.xps)

Source Code
Some code files are partially supported but for now, please send your application translation requirements to us manually
using the contact link or combine the translation text into one of the other document formats we support.
What if I have a number of documents to send you?
Click4Translation accepts zip files as a document format allowing you to upload a large number of documents with minimum
fuss. To create a zip file in Windows Vista, select the files to be archived in Windows Explorer, right click then select ‘Send To’
-> ‘Compressed (Zipped) Folder’.
Follow the ‘quote’ link and upload the zip archive as you would with a single document. Please allow a few minutes as we recover
the words from each document in your file. Each item in the zip file will benefit from our repetition matching system, meaning
repeated sentences are quoted with a 75% discount!
How do I send you my complete Web site?
Click 'quote', select the 'published web site' tab, enter your website address and we'll automatically traverse your website to
produce a quote. This is effective in most cases and we'll contact you if we need any more information.

Static Sites
We can spider your web site automatically. To do this completely accurately you must have a static web site written in HTML or created
using a tool such as Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Dynamic web sites, those with databases and built in languages such as PHP, ASP
or Perl, do not allow us to get all of your linguistic content. When we spider your web site, we take into account every document
format we support, so images are scanned, PDF and Word documents are counted, and of course your HTML content.
When you use our spider, you will benefit from our repetition matching system. Items which appear on every page will only be
counted once in your quote.

Dynamic Sites
If you have a content managed web site which was custom built by a web development company, then Click4Translation may not
retrieve all of your language content. The web spider can count all of the visible content on the website but not things which
are hidden from it by form submissions, login areas, locale, time-of-day etc. For the largest percentage of cases you should
be able to spider the website as normal, we will contact you if we run into any complications later.
If you have a large dynamic website which changes frequently, consider
integrating with Click4Translation through XML web
services. This allows you to have content translated on an ongoing basis as it is posted, keeping your international sites
in constant sync with your native site with a minimum of fuss.

Content Management Systems
If you are using one of the major content management systems such as WordPress, Movable Type or Joomla! then we may be
able to provide automatic translation as you update your content. We currently have tight integration planned with Nooku,
the multilingual Joomla! add-on, and more to follow. Please contact us for more information, or if you would like to
integrate your development project with our web service.

How do I check the progress of my project?
Log on to the web site via the ‘My Account’ section. Click through to ‘Projects’ and you will see a list of your
current projects along with their progress. The percentage display shows the number of words we have translated out
of the total number of words to be translated. You can also download the completed portions of partially completed
projects for review. To do this, click the ‘download’ link which appears under the text “n/n Translations”.
Top
What is the prepayment scheme?
By using the prepayment scheme, you can purchase translated words at a reduced rate. Each word you buy can then
be used to buy translation projects. Different source and destination languages are usually charged at varying rates.
Prepaid words are bought at a single rate, meaning your costs are predictable and you can save money. Minimum charges
are not applied to prepaid credit schemes, so it also makes sense if you have a number of small documents for translation.
To use prepayment, select the ‘pay as you go’ payment method when buying your project. Logging to the ‘My Account’
section will give you the opportunity to buy further words at any time.

Can you accomodate bespoke requirements?
Certainly. If there is a certain feature, supported document, report, integration via an existing standard etc. you need then please contact us.
Click4Translation is built in-house by our own team which puts us in a great position to meet your requirements.
